Diabetes UK and Tesco teamed up to raise money with a nationwide target of £400,000. We did our part by collecting at the Tesco store in Dorchester. There was a fine turnout of our volunteers for all 3 days. We had a steady flow of donations making £247.56 on Friday, £252.97 on Saturday and £281.78 on Sunday, producing a grand total of £782.31. In addition to the collection, we had a Diabetes UK information stand providing free booklets, pamphlets and one-to-one advice. We would like to thank all the volunteers, both adults and children, for their time and our supporters for their donations. Nationally the sum collected so far is over £380,000. The money will be used to raise awareness, reach undiagnosed diabetics, fund research into the causes of diabetes and the future of a Type I vaccine and much more besides which will benefit not only diabetics but also their families, friends and care providers.
